About Kansas International Dragway

Welcome to Kansas International Dragway (KID)—the heart of grassroots motorsports in the Midwest. Located just outside Wichita in Maize, Kansas, our facility features a premier, NHRA-sanctioned quarter-mile drag strip dedicated to delivering high-octane excitement, a welcoming community, and unforgettable family memories.

 

Our Story: A 60-Year Legacy

Founded in 1963 by third-generation Kansas farmers Marceles and Helen Simon, the track originally grew out of local farmland into a hometown strip built on hard work and a passion for speed. Known affectionately over the decades as M-N Raceway, Wichita Dragway, and Wichita International Raceway, the facility has stood the test of time as the third-oldest attraction in Sedgwick County.

Following a brief hiatus, the Simon family stepped back into direct operations, with the founders' grandchildren stepping up to revitalize their grandparents' original dream. Today, we are entirely family-owned and family-operated, bringing "homegrown horsepower" to a new generation of racers and fans.

Whether you are a seasoned bracket racer tuning your engine or a first-time fan experience the ground-shaking roar of a funny car, KID has something for everyone:

• The Track: A fully prepped quarter-mile racing surface equipped with high-precision timing systems.

• The Atmosphere: We proudly offer a family-friendly environment with full spectator concessions, affordable admission, open pit access, and dedicated tailgating and camping areas.

• The Action: From our legendary bracket series and Friday Night Grudge events to major regional draws like Import Face-Off, Michelada Madness, and the historic Truett & Osborn Bike Drags, our calendar is packed with variety.
