About
Built in 1963 on farmland owned by Marcellus "Sally" and Helen Simon, Kansas International Dragway is a full 1/4 mile facility. This track is steeped in history as some of the biggest names in drag racing have come and made their mark from drivers like "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, Bill "Grumpy" Jenkins, to modern superstars, Scott Palmer, and Alex Laughlin.
Sally and Helen's granddaughter, Gwen Kelley, leads the family in reviving and operating "KID" for it's 60th season in 2024 after a year-long closure. Gwen's family has made significant financial and physical investment hoping to continue the family legacy for years to come.
The facility boasts a concrete launch pad with a full asphalt surface, updated time system and many other restorations with future upgrades planned. In addition to the great 1/4 and 1/8 mile drag racing, KID has 23 primitive RV/Tailgate spaces available to accommodate any length rig or RV. If you're new to drag racing, come out to this family friendly and affordable, historic South Central Kansas venue for any of our events.
