Kansas International Dragway (KID) is hiring for multiple positions for the 2026 season!

These are part-time, seasonal roles (March–October), perfect for motivated individuals who want to contribute to racer safety, event flow, and a friendly, high-energy racing environment.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS (ALL POSITIONS)

Must be 16 years or older; 18 years or older for track work; 21 years or older to serve alcohol

Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions

Comfortable standing/walking for long periods

Excellent communication and teamwork skills

Weekend availability (March–October)

Willingness to learn KID procedures and safety standards

JOB LISTINGS
TRACK STAFF
This position will include full training and cross training. It includes working on the starting line, water box, trackside, staging lanes, and other drag strip operation areas on race days, as needed. Responsibilities may include:
-
Assisting with track prep
-
Acting as a second set of eyes during each race
-
Preparing the water box for burnouts
-
Assisting in controlling the pace of the race
-
Monitoring and keeping the dragstrip area clear of rubber, debris and fluid
-
Helping in the staging lanes loading and pairing cars in the correct lanes.
Experience needed: Computer literacy and working in high stress environment, required.
Ideal for: someone dependable, alert, and eager to learn the rhythm of race operations and work in multiple drag crew position.
ANNOUNCER
This critical voice-of-the-track role keeps racing efficient with timely announcements for racers while entertaining spectators to keep their interest at the track. Responsibilities may include:

Calling racers to staging lanes in an extremely organized and timely manner

Announce the track activity with each race
-
Entertaining spectators with information, appropriate jokes, trivia, door prize challenges and music
-
Multitasking while maintaining a high level of accuracy
-
Assisting in controlling the pace of the racing
Experience needed: Radio, TV or broadcast experience even at an academic level, required. Knowledge of drag racing, required. Computer skills and attention to detail are key.
Ideal for: a fun and positive personality who enjoys high energy environment and motivating others to have fun.
COOK
This role safely prepares food with an outdoor grill and fryer, using proper food handling and safety techniques. Responsibilities may include:

Assuring proper food handling and preparation always consistently occurs.

Working with team to assure necessary food is ready to be prepared and sent back to service area properly cooked.

Proper set up/tear down and cleaning/maintenance of grills and fryers.
-
Relating with guests with a friendly and positive attitude.
Experience needed: Food prep and service experience, highly preferred. Food handlers card or ability to obtain, required. Pleasant and friendly attitude with teams and comfort working independently.
Ideal for: someone who enjoys being outside preparing food and careful about safe food handling.
CAFE SERVER
This role serves guests per their orders while accurately utilizing safe food handling techniques with a pleasant, friendly and respectful attitude. Responsibilities may include:

Assuring proper cleanliness and inviting presentation for customers, along with friendly and polite interactions with customers.

Assuring proper food handling and preparation always consistently occurs.
-
Stock service area with beverages and packaged foods. Set up cooked foods.
-
Immediate readiness for health inspection at all times.
-
Assisting lead with proper set up/tear down of the Cafe kitchens, service window and patio area.

Assisting with proper cleaning, refresh and stock of Cafe building restrooms.

Assisting cook with transporting food to and from outdoor kitchen.
Experience needed: Food prep and service experience, highly preferred. Pleasant, friendly attitude and enjoyment working with people. Food handlers card, required or ability to obtain. 21 years old or older required to serve alcoholic beverages.
Ideal for: someone who enjoys helping and serving others.
FRONT GATE
This role is the first face of the track and sets the tone for all guest experiences while properly and accurately collecting admissions and entries, and providing appropriate documents to racers and guests. Responsibilities may include:

Accurately charge visitors for the types of admissions and race entries required.

Providing racers with proper tech cards and documents needed to race.
-
Assuring that all visitors to the track sign required applicable waivers.

Effectively communicating needs and questions to onsite management.
Experience needed: Cash handling and point-of-sale experience, required. Pleasant, friendly, and welcoming attitude required. Ability to work periods of time independently and ability to lead teams during events that required gate agents to assist.
Ideal for: someone who enjoys greeting people and making their day great while applying great attention to detail.
